Hacking is a big issue with online data and has been around for a while, but hacking and defacing Social Media challenges is a rising trend.The BBC Weather account on the microblogging site Twitter had it’s profile hacked this week and defaced with scandalous fake news Items concerning issues in the middle east. Take a look at the screenshot below of a few of the Tweets that managed to get posted.
Other items included – “Saudi weather station down due to head-on collision with camel.”
While Google and Facebook have deployed two-step authentication process for security, this measure has escaped Twitter until now. Thus leading to numerous hacks in the last few months – such as the 250,000 hacked accounts earlier in 2013. We are looking forward to Twitter’s next and needed move here.
